live music on the patio with Sam Kuusisto

"Sam Kuusisto is a unique find in a city saturated with talented singers. Taking the stage, this well-dressed, polite, handsome young man belies what will happen next. Be prepared for scorching vocals, and absolutely the most soulful singing you will ever hear!

Kuusisto is constantly at work, wearing out crowds all over the midwest and its small wonder that he stays in demand. For one, his scalding vocal is backed by a full force band, including some horns and some nasty, chicken-scratched guitar.

--Dwight Hobbes, Pulse of the Twin Cities

Sam began playing guitar and singing as a child and was influenced by Ray Charles, Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder and many other blues, jazz and rock legends.

At age 16, Sam began playing professionally and has spent the last 25 years developing a solid following across the midwest and beyond. He has opened for and shared the stage with many local and national acts, including Jeff Healy, Indigenous, Taj Mahal and Little Charlie and the Night Cats.

In the summer of 2007, he alone was requested to perform at the 60th birthday party of Bonnie Raitt's brother, Steve.

Sam and his band can be seen playing with local legends Mick Sterling (SOUL), Paul Mayasich (RAMM Band) and vocalist Jana Anderson at many Twin Cities area music clubs, as well as the Minnesota State Fair.
